“The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You” — Chase Jarvis

What a great quote!

The other night, our three year old Anya was taking her bath. I was hanging out in the bathroom to make sure she was safe. She was laying there in the water with her dirty little face poking through the suds, so I had to grab a picture.

This was shot with an iPhone 6 using the onboard flash. I edited it in camera using the native camera app (cropping, lighting, etc.). I would have loved to have ran downstairs, grabbed a fancier camera, a flash, pointed the flash head up and bounced it off the ceiling, etc. However, that just wasn’t possible. Not only might she have drowned (although, she does take swimming lessons and was perfectly safe — you just never know. I’m one of those over-protective dads), but I would have missed the shot.

I love photographic gear, but if all you have is your smartphone, then take the shot! It’s better than no photo at all.
