Anya is a big fan of YouTube. She’s been asking me if she could put a video of herself on YouTube for quite some time now. Today was the perfect opportunity. It was wet and cold outside, Vanessa and Nadia were out of town, and it was just the two of us. It was a perfect time to bake cookies, play with my Panasonic G9 and 8-18mm lens, test out the face detect autofocus, and to entertain Anya too.

For this video, I set the G9 on a tabletop tripod, set exposure manually, and the audio was being recorded with the Rode VideoMic Pro Plus plugged directly into the camera. The light was a combination of awful indoor lighting, and window light. I set the camera to continuous face detect auto focus. The picture profile used was Cinelike D. I color graded the footage slightly inĀ DaVinci Resolve, and boosted the audio as well. I actually forgot to turn off the in body image stabilization. Luckily, it didn’t seem to affect the footage in a negative way.

All in all, the auto focus works great! The footage looks nice, and the audio came out well too.
