Mason Lake via Ira Spring Memorial Trail

Yesterday, Nadia (our twelve year old daughter) and I went hiking with some friends from the dojo. James and Malia are the power couple that inspired me to pick up hiking. Just like in the dojo, they both kicked my butt!

It was great to join them with our kids (the oldest ones) for an outing.

We hiked up to Mason Lake. My phone says we travelled just under 8 miles, and according to AllTrails, the ascent was 2,300 feet.

A quick note about getting to the trail – the National Forest Service road is full of potholes, dips, and bumps. My Forester handled it just fine, but I wouldn’t recommend driving there in a regular sedan.

Photos were shot with a Panasonic S1R, Panasonic 16-35mm f/4 lens, with a polarizer attached. They were edited in Capture One Pro and further enhanced in Luminar 4.
