While a fairly short trail at 3.1 miles (round trip), it’s a bit steep at 1,300 feet in elevation gain. Eric, has done this hike many a time – even at night, but this was my first time. There’s nothing too interesting photographically until you’re near the top, then there’s a beautiful view of Mt. Rainier. In the distance you can see surrounding mountains like St. Helens, Adams, and I believe Mt. Baker as well.
It’s a bit of a drive from my home though. I left my house around 5:30 a.m., picked Eric up, and headed south. We arrived around 7:30 a.m. It was already busy! People had been up there for the sunrise and were hiking down just as we were trekking up.
Armed with a Canon EOS R5 and a 15-35mm f/2.8, I shot these photos and edited them in Lightroom and Luminar.
Here’s a clip from the hike in 8K.
