We hit the trail by 6:00 a.m. – good thing too, the day was a scorcher! There’s not a whole lot to see on this trail other than dirt and trees. As the sun was coming up, the camera had a tough time capturing the dynamic range of the scenes. I suppose I could have dragged a tripod up with me, shot multiple exposures, and merged in HDR, but it wouldn’t have been worth it.

At the end of the trail is a lookout tower. Heights bother me, but we climbed up the stairs to view the vistas. The hiking trail was completely clean and well maintained, but for some reason, people decided to put their own graffiti and tags at the very top of the lookout tower. The best view is at the top. If you’re looking for a shorter hike and are in the area, this is a good one.

The rest of the day was spent lounging and relaxing – a nice end to a weekend where we hiked over 11 miles.
