Port Townsend is a couple of hours from our home, but we’ve never visited before. The Airbnb we’re staying at is just a short walk away from Kala Point. Tonight was mostly spent settling in, but we had a chance to walk down to the beach.
I brought along the Nikon Z6 II (which replaced my Z6). The main complaint I had with the Z6 was the poor autofocus performance. I’m happy to say that second version is much improved from an accuracy standpoint, but still could be faster. I still need to play with it while recording video, but from my tests, it seems like a much better video tool. This time however, I will not send it in to Nikon for the ProRes RAW upgrade since I found I prefer N-Log more.
The main complaint I have so far with the camera, is that the LCD isn’t nearly as bright as I would like when viewed in bright sunlight.
These photos were shot with the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 S lens and the photos were edited in Lightroom using Adobe’s newest built in presets that were just released. The portraits of the girls, Vanessa, and myself were shot in the shade of a large piece of driftwood on the beach. It just happened to be the most perfect lighting for portraits that you could ever hope for.
