This was my first time going out and shooting with a manual focus lens on the D850. I’m used to shooting with a mirrorless camera that gives real-time exposure feedback, or modern Nikon lenses on the D850 that really make great use of the camera’s metering system.
I was getting inconsistent exposure results shooting with the 50mm f1.2 and decided to try live view to see my exposure changes in real-time. However, my changes weren’t showing up in the live view. I looked all through the menus and couldn’t find a setting that would show me the correct exposure.
I asked on this Nikon D850 Facebook Group and got the following advice from Dharun Raj: “On live view press OK button.” Brilliant!
This was exactly what I needed! Now that that was sorted out, I was able to start really enjoying this combo.
