Olive Branch Cafe and Tea Room and Dorky’s with the Ricoh GR III – First Outing

This was my first outing with the Ricoh GR III. I’ve been in the market for a compact camera for a while – since all my other cameras and lenses are quite large. While my iPhone Xs Max does great in a pinch, it’s no substitute for a dedicated camera. What appealed to me about the GR III is the quality of photos I’ve been seeing online. Also, I’ve read about and watched plenty of YouTube videos over the years discussing the GR II and original GR models. The built in IS, touch screen, and image quality of the GR III really appealed to me.

While it’s focusing clearly isn’t class leading, when it does focus, it’s accurate. The low noise performance is decent, the dynamic range is good, the JPEGs stink, but the RAW files have a lot of nice detail.

Today’s outing was a split between high tea and a video arcade. A perfect match!
