Sometimes it’s the gear, other times it’s the light – tonight was both.

Edited in Lightroom and finalized in Luminar 4. Luminar 4 does a fantastic job with image quality, however the software has a glaring flaw – it loses metadata when exporting. It’s a well known and documented issue. The way around it is to use Lightroom, export your image back to the catalog, and set it to open Luminar after the image exporting has been done – only one image at a time, not a batch. After you finalize the image in Luminar, when you’re back in Lightroom, there’s an option to overwrite the metadata from the catalog or to read it from the file – OVERWRITE it from the catalog. It’s a kludgy process, but I like the finalized results from Luminar so I deal with it. Hopefully, Skylum fixes this bug. Incidentally, I’ve tried other supposed workarounds like renaming my user folder, but nothing seems to work other than what I laid out above.
