It was supposed to be an overcast and cool day, but it was sunny and toasty! We packed barely enough water, and no sunscreen. Needless to say, we all got burnt – I’m typing this post retroactively about five days after the hike, and my neck is still red. That being said, beautiful scenery though.

Since Lightroom doesn’t natively support the EOS R5 RAW files yet, I shot everything in RAW+JPEG and resized/posted the JPEG photos below. I’m very pleased with the camera, and didn’t have any problem with the video overheating. Perhaps that is because I frequently turn the camera off when I’m not shooting (I hope the power switch lasts a long time).

My only complaint about the camera so far is that the EVF and screen aren’t as bright as I would like for direct sunlight. Also, when shooting video, the horizon level disappears – seriously, it just goes away! I confirmed this with Jordan Drake of DPReview TV via Twitter to see if I was missing a setting – nope, that’s what happens.

All shots were done with the 24-105mm RF f/4 lens and a B+W XS-Pro Kaesemann circular polarizer – very handy for midday sunlight.
