JamesDSP - An Easy To Use EQ / DSP for Linux
After connecting the Airpods Max headphones to my ROG Ally X and HTPC both running Bazzite, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the OS automatically defaulted to the AAC codec. I tried a couple of YouTube videos and games, and while latency was present, it wasn’t bad. The audio quality however was lackluster.
Searching the web, I came across two programs: JamesDSP and EasyEffects. While both are powerful, JamesDSP has a more user friendly interface, is simple, works great, is lighweight, and does everything I need it to do.
It brought the audio quality from a 5 up to a 9 with using a built in EQ and dynamic bass boost. If you wanted to tweak it further, I’m sure you could, but this was just what I needed.
Just be sure to add it to Steam and run it from there. Also, do not exit it when switching to a different app or game.
